The only other way out of the raid is to walk back the way you came and step back out. There are a total of 10 bosses in this instance and they are listed below in order of encounter as you progress through the raid. For the solo adventurer, once you are around level 85 or higher the enemies in Molten Core can become quite trivial. It depends on your gear as well, but your stats will reach a point that enemies are attacking you for minutes and your life will barely drop.
This is a steep difference from going in at level 60 where you will die within 20 seconds without getting healed. Travel to the raid. Once you have either formed your group or decided to take it on alone, you will need to travel to the raid.
Part 2. Enter Molten Core through the main entrance. Molten Core is located on the continent of Eastern Kingdoms. The walk-in entrance is located in Blackrock Depths, a dungeon in Blackrock Mountain. Be teleported to Molten Core by Lothos Riftwaker. The other way to enter Molten Core is by speaking to Lothos Riftwaker a non-player character near the lava in the center of Blackrock Mountain.
He can teleport you directly inside. Originally, you would have had to do a quest before Lothos Riftwaker would teleport you, but now that the quest is several years old, it's been changed and you don't need to do it anymore. Be summoned inside by a Warlock. If you are in a group with a Warlock and he is already inside Molten Core, he can summon you in. It will take 2 other people with him to create the summoning portal, so in total it takes 3 other people besides yourself.
Part 3. Know how to identify a boss. When you enter Molten Core, you will be greeted by a pack of level 62 Molten Giants. In total, there are 10 bosses in raid and a whole lot of smaller level 58—63 enemies.
When you move your mouse over an enemy, it will show their level on their nameplate. Locate and defeat the bosses. Before you can spawn the final boss, you must defeat all of the previous bosses except for Lucifron, who can be skipped. When looking at your map, you can see the location of each boss marked by a skull. The final boss of Molten Core is Ragnaros. Proceed with caution when taking on the Core Hounds.
Most of the enemies in Molten Core, including Ragnaros, are simple: when you get their life to zero, they will stay dead. The Core Hounds in Magmadar Cavern open up your map and near the top you will see a section titled Magmadar Cavern are an exception.
These Core Hounds are linked together in packs of 5, and they will revive a few seconds after dying unless all other Core Hounds in their pack are also dead. Part 4.
Know how often you can slay a boss. They can do a hefty amount of damage to you in a short amount of time. Now if you want you can drink a Greater FR Potion to lessen the damage. It can and will save your life. Magamdar will also use an AoE fear every now and then.
Have your trinket on so that you can nullify the fear. Only use it if you know you are being feared into one of those blobs of lava that he leaves. Otherwise just let it run out. Just follow the steps and Magmadar will be down in no time! Let the OT? Gehannas has a Rain of Fire AoE that can hurt a lot if you stay in it. Just keep up the ranged DPS until either the raid leader says move in for melee or until Gehannas is dead. Garr DPS gear A lot of adds on this fight. Each will have their own mark and there will be either a tank or warlock on each one.
When the fight begins, there will be one add with a Hunter? That will be the first target to DPS. That is your signal to move as far as possible before it explodes. Just keep on repeating until raid leader signals to DPS Garr.
Garr will not explode here. Just DPS the hell out of? A special thing about Garr that makes him different from the other elementals such as himself is that he can have bleed effects on him. Once Garr is down, DPS will be back on the adds. Just do what you did with the ones from before and all will be good. For the last one, if you want to have some extra fun you can stick around and let that one explode in your face if HP permits!! No one should be in melee range whatsoever.
Once the sunders are in place start shooting. Sometime in the fight you may get a whisper and a warning saying that you are the bomb. When you do either run somewhere behind the raid or run into the cave. It all depends where you are at. Just rinse and repeat and Baron will be done in no time. Comment by Shazzrah Ahhh nothing feels good than killing a disgruntled mage.
No I don't mean Magflare!! Shazzrah has a mean Arcane Explosion and it gets even meaner when he puts his curse on ya that makes the AE a lor worse. Like with Baron, let the MT get his aggro.
Once the sunders are in place, start the shooting. Every now and then Shazzrah will teleport to a random person. I cannot stress that enough. When he teleport, don't run around like a chicken with its head cut off. Run towards the MT if you happen to get Shazzrah's attention. Just rinse and repeat. I know they may look cute and all, but they are not a rogue's problem. Golemagg is the main target.
The two pooches will be tanked seperately. When the fight starts, let the MT get his aggro. Once that is done start the DPS. This can stack up to 20 times. It may not seem bad early on, but if you can get enough on you it can turn your good day to a bad one.
If you get more than 5 on you stop your DPS and let it run out. Anymore than 10 and you are in serious doo doo. If you want you can drink a Greater FR Potion to help deal with it. But these adds can heal each other. In order to do this fight we have to make sure the adds don't heal each other at all. What will happen at the start of the fight is that there will be a tank on each add. One at a time the adds are going to be brought up the hill to where we can DPS it at.
This is so that they cannot be within viewing range of their heals. Once the add is in position, start the DPS. If you see the add casting a spell, use Kick. This will cancel his spell and he will have to wait. Now since Kick has a CD not every rogue should kick. There should be a order at which we will kick the mob.
Also try and make a macro to let the other rogues know that you are about to kick. Just repeat on the other adds and then we can DPS Sulf with no worries. Starting to see a pattern with all these henchmen and Naga?? Anyways Domo is a straight-up wuss!!! The man has 8 adds with him, 4 elites and 4 healers. Once the adds are down Domo will submit. I saw it with my own eyes. If we can stunlock the healers, it can help stop the damage that the tank is recieving from it.
The elites are not stunable however. Just have to take them down the 'ol fashioned way. Just keep on attacking and don't still the tanks aggro. Domo will submit and then we will have his box of goodies.
I haven't fought past Domo with a rogue, so sorry for not being able to support rogues past that point. Comment by Tanking Guide 2 Molten Destroyer Early on they are with the giants, then later double destroyers. Heavy melee attack. Random knockdown effect at the feet of it. Once dead dps Lucifron. Rating: 5 Magmadar Second boss in MC. Medium melee attack. Frontal fire breath. AoE fear. How to: The MT will tank Magmadar in one spot and never move. The MT should stand in zerker stance while Magmadar is being pulled. Every 30 seconds Magmadar will AoE fear MT needs to switch into zerker stance wait 2 seconds and hit Berserker rage and then switch back to Defensive stance.
Repeat this process until Magmadar is dead. The MT needs to wear a mix of FR and tanking gear. Rating: 8 Gehannas Third boss in MC.
Rain of Fire spell. AoE curse. Random Shadowbolts. Has 2 adds with a stun effect. How to: The MT will tank Gehnnas in front of the raid and will stand there the whole time. The first 2 OTs will tank the 2 adds, when they are stuned they will run away.. The secondary OTs should stand a fair distance away from the adds to not get hit with the stun.
Once adds dead dps Gehannas, move out of the Rain of Fire! Rating: 3. Medium - Heavy melee attack. Dispells buffs. Magma shackles slows movement speed by ALOT! Has 8 mini garr adds. Most of the adds will be banished, remaining adds will be tanked and killed. How to: All the tanking warriors will run in at the same time and taunt there specifed adds along with the MT grabbing Garr.
The MT will back Garr up towards the smokestakes near where he stands and remain there until Garr is dead. Once Garr dies the adds will be killed off one at a time. Rating: 2 Baron Geddon 5th boss in MC. Heavy Fire based attacks. Inferno attack the pulses with increasing fire damage. Mana Burn. Living Bomb spell. When Baron does his Infero attack you cant miss it the MT needs to run out of it and towards the caster group. Bring Baron back to the position and continue tanking him, repeat when needed.
When and if the MT becomes the bomb, The MT needs to run over to the blow up spot up the wall to your left and blow up, baron will of course follow you. Rating: 7 Shazzrah 6th boss in MC. Arcane Explosion. Self buff, Target debuff. How to: For this boss you will stand in the middle of the raid in a giant circle around you. Shazzrah will be pulled to you. When Shazzrah teleports to a random person in the raid, that person will run towards you so that you can taunt it back.
You should turn around and find where Shazzrah is and run towards the person running towards you so that you can taunt Shazzrah back early and possibly save the person running towards you. Repeat as needed. Rating: 5 Sulfuron Harbringer 7th boss in MC. Medium-Heavy melee attack.
Demo shout. Flame Spear. Inspire enrage Flamewalker Healers: Heal. Shadow Word Pain. Dark Strike extra shadow damage How to: Sulfuron will be tanked infront if where he is standing, 3 of the healers will be tanked at the bottom as well, 1 healer will be draged up at a time to reduce healing and destroyed. The MT will pull Sulfuron to himself and the 3 healers will be picked up by the OTs, 1 OT will stand up the hill and a hunter will pull one of the healers up to him.
The one up the hill will be destroyed and then one of the OTs will be called out, if its you turn around and run your healer up the hill and it will be destroyed. The last healer will be killed at the bottom. The MT will hold sulfuron where he stands, as MT you have to watch for when Sulfuron gets bigger, he will attack harder and faster for 10 secs this happens at random, when this happens spam Shield Block like mad.
If Sulfuron knocks the MT on his feet the MT must engage Sulfuron in melee after he runs away and starts spearing you. Rating: 4. Comment by are people still raiding here though that BC is out? Comment by Xukimonde If you're 70 and you never had the chance to run Molten Core though unlikely, unless you didn't get to spend much time at 60 don't think that you won't be able to get in there.
While finishing a guild-mate's Thunderfury, and looking for another EoS drop or two can never hurt, ehh we regularly trekked up to and including Golemagg with as little as eight players, and then brought in a couple more for Executus and Ragnaros.
Even as players who farmed the instance to death at 60, it can still be entertaining to go back with little more than a party and accomplish what took in the same amount of time at 60 - and who knows, you might just pick up some lucky Bindings or an EoS for your trouble. Comment by Just ran this today with 18 70s and 2 60s. Had a couple of wipes and did fine.
People in the group is loving the gear cause they think they look cool and use it for RP. Word of Advise make sure you have priests to dispell and when fighting Baron make sure you got healers paying attention to the rest of the group.
Comment by me and my 4 level 70' friends were able to clear Ragnaros. Comment by I'm guessing its not possible to pug this raid As I have been in it We got to Baron before we called it quits. We didn't even wipe. It was a blast, considering almost all of us had raided MC way too much back in pre-BC.
No wipes on bosses, but, let me tell you, when you've got 80 Lava Spawns running around, and with the healers all silenced, you'll have problems. Comment by i wish people still did this one it seems so awesome. Comment by Apsalar MC has been 3 manned at lvl Yes, a complete clear. By a tier 6 warrior, T6 priest and T4ish feral druid. Comment by this dungeon is very easy now.. T4 feral druid dps specced was able to solo the rock elementals, core hounds, and could solo a molten giant if they were single pulls..
The corehounds do though. Comment by MC 2 manned a week ago by prot warrior - resto shaman. Might post a guide about it later on :. Comment by Good old Molten Core People who played since BC or WotLK can't imagine how hard it was for 40 just beginning to raid people where 2 can clean everything within a couple of hours now. The damned second piece of bindings never dropped for us and we never saw a drop of the eye So getting DK to 80 and gona clean all place solo.
As you can understand this is just insane if you wanna hit exalted, since after you hit Revered you will just get Reputation from Bosses only. A whole Molten Core run should award you with reputation. Comment by Next patch 3. Comment by what do i need to summon last boss? This means trivial mobs will continue to give out their full amounts of reputation on kill for the majority of cases in the game level 70 creatures in Stratholme, for example, will continue to award the full amount of rep to level 80 players seeking to boost their Argent Dawn faction.
Comment by Still requires that you kill all the bosses in MC before killing Rags and Majordomo. When you kill the boss associated with the rune, it douses itself. Comment by Daylis 5 people, 2 hours. Feral tank, moonkin, lock, mage and holy priest.
Comment by Im gonna try and do this, need a raidgroup, if anyone is intrested my char is snowfiring in skywall, pst me tommorow or day after first pst ill start, um just going for a 2h or some good pl8. Comment by Do we still need to get attuned to enter MC and BLW now taht the new patch is out, i dunno i just heard ppls saying we dont need to get attuned. Comment by This was fun.
Did this with 4 level 80's. We were wearing mostly level 80 heroic blues and purples but nothing special and no fire-resist gear, just paladin aura. Took 2. Highly recommended for those that, like me, always wanted to run MC but never had the chance.
Also a good way to earn reputation with the Hydraxian Waterlords if that is your thing. Comment by Tan This is easy. We 3 manned it last night. It took awhile but we each got over g and it was fun. Comment by I am trying to get the Classic Raider Achievement - Im not really interested in any quest there may be, just an achievement junkie.
I just did Onxyia's Lair last night and moving down the list it's time for Molten Core! Before I attempt it and while the server is down I figure I would stop in here and see what I need to get into the instance if anything. I spent about 2 days running around Dire Maul and then Desolace because I thought I needed to be attuned for Onyxia and needed the Drakefire Amulet as a key - both of which I didn't need!
Just needed to be in a raid group! If I could skip that wasted time for my future Raid Achievements then woot to me! Also - If anyone has the Coordinates for the entrance that would be super sweet If not maybe a little more detail about where it is located.
Thanks for any help! DoC -- edit-- if your not hip to the groove like me right then its my pleasure to inform you that there's no need to be attuned to MC. Comment by I can confirm this, Me and my Druid friend just ran a 50 warrior through for some gear and a chance at my Binding. Comment by I'm not sure if this has been said, I didn't read all the comments, butt Today one of my guildies and my hunter went to do MC to get my hunter one of the pets, after getting lost several times and with a little help from wowhead we finally reached the core fragment, as you can imagine, we basically cried when we realized we had to do the whole thing over again to hand the quest in.
So I suggested just trying to get into MC, we converted it to a raid group and voila! Comment by For anyone interested in running this for the achievement or farming old boe epics or trying to get the twink enchants.
The droprates for the enchants certainly were improved as stated in the patch. All of the trash is soloable at 80 with decent gear. Every boss in the zone can be 2 manned, many can be soloed. Respawn info: The roaming ancient core hounds and lava surgers will respawn very quickly.
The fire imps to the left of the zoneline will respawn even more quickly. Everything else in the zone respawns after a few hours, and the giants take the longest to respawn they were back the next morning, but long after everything else - possibly only after a soft reset.
The packs of core hounds that reignite are a disaster if you don't dps them evenly. They aren't a threat otherwise so take the time to tab through them and make sure that un? Shazzrah is probably the easiest boss in the zone. Baron Geddis is much easier if you pull him underneath the tunnel leading into his area, where the ceiling will greatly limit your fall damage, if you have a mana bar, stay oom and wand, and use your mana as soon as it appears, and you won't take nearly as much damage from his mana burn, offsetting your need to heal to compensate for the lack of mana.
Of course, if you can dispel magic, this doesn't apply. For druids specifically: Shift into cat or use bear charge to escape the fall damage from the various bosses that will cause you to launch into the air. Everything in the zone is vulnerable to infected wounds. Demoralizing roar scales ridiculously well in this zone, due to the low base attack power of many of the mobs. Majordomo looks intimidating but the only damage comes from the fire you're stuck standing in. Comment by frost mages might want to think about bringing a freezer with them I hear frostbolts melt in mid air down there.
Comment by is this soloable at 78 good geared. Comment by Hi at the moment im trying to solo this with me retri pala we have gotten to the core hounds and i found them really hard, im doing it with a lvl 60 pally healer which help a little it just meens ive gotta keep aggro too which isnt easy-. Comment by oh and at 78 i dought it is solo able because with my 80 pala im having diffuculties and he is good geared im geared for naxx so i dont think 78 can handle it.
Comment by SeanDamnit The entire zone is soloable by a prot paladin. All the bosses are pretty unnoteable, they just take forever - the exception is Gehennas, who will kick your ass something fierce. Put up shadow resist, burn the adds down as fast as possible, and make sure you bubble out of the curse and heal yourself here and there.
The other pain in the ass is Ragnaros, but that's just because you don't end up getting a lot of DPS time before he submerges, so it takes like 30 min to kill him.
Comment by 2 manned with me an elemental shaman and a holy paladin. Took about 2 hours died a lot because we weren't sure how to go about doing certain parts. The holy pally tanked everything, healing himself a lot, and I just sat there doing damage. It was actually very easy. I think we could probably do the entire thing in an hour if we reallly tried. Rag was easy, I just healed the pally when he needed it and other than that spammed lightning bolt.
Took about 10 minutes. Comment by This may be a stupid question, but do u get XP in lvl 60 raids? Comment by I killed all but Magmadar, Majordomo and raggy in 2h this night and I'm going to finish it tomorrow. Playing a prot paladin with fire res a flask and aura. All the bosses are very easy.
Some of them hit hard, but on those bosses I just kept BoL, SoL and sacred shield up to keep my life. No need to heal. Don't pull 2 sets of core hounds before Magmadar. They give a nice challenge to bring down at 1 group at a time, but with 2 groups, you have 10 core hounds, and that's really, really hard. Comment by Leuthas All trash and bosses in Molten Core are soloable by a protection Paladin at least as of 3. So what place is this, HELL?
Comment by Morbius I'm trying to solo MC but I can't figure out how to kill the 2 giants at the entrance. I'm a demonology specced warlock. When I try to kill the 2 giants the giants lose all aggro when they knock my pet back. This makes it impossible to heal my pet without eventually getting aggro. Anyone have any tips? Comment by DropDead mc was my first raid but the Party leader ninjaed on a hunter item his name was Bonezre on magtheridon server when we was done with majordo the leader kicked me because i told him i would report him if he dont give the item to the other hunter then ke removed me from group so i did not get Achivment.
Comment by Just finished soloing it as a feral druid woohoo! Take that pallies! A lot of these bosses require some form of healing outside of what Leader of the Pack brings you. Do remember to barkskin before attempting any healing Golemagg, Gehennas, Gedon a lotta G's and the Sulfuron Harbringer are downright impossible without heals. Will be posting a few tips for the tougher bosses Comment by 2 manned it the other day with a ret and holy paladin.
We briefly had a ret paladin as well, but he had to leave after Geddon. We only had one wipe, on Sulfuron Harbinger, due to overconfidence: we thought we could burn through the priests, but that just made us go OOM before they did.
So yes, MC can be done without heal-specced healer. On a few of the fights, Golemagg in particular, the boomkin stayed in caster form to keep up HoTs on the tank. Edited for clarity. Comment by I tried to do MC once.
We came to the core hounds. We kill them but they stay on 1 hp, then they respawn. How do you make them die? Comment by Ok question - and probably a stupid one - but is there a way to create a raid with just say 2 people, so I can go solo in places like MC or ZG? It seems to me to be a bit unfair to make achievements for places like ZG or MC or what have you where really no one goes anymore at least not on my server , and then make the places raid-only.
Any ideas? Comment by DrCheis The lava in this zone is intended as a natural barrier. If you stack fire resistance and can heal yourself though, you can move through it relatively freely for long periods. Be careful doing this though, since the map wasn't designed for it, and straying too far to the edges generally you can tell when you get there might result in falling through the world to your death. Comment by just got a core hound hoot hoot. Comment by do you need to kill all the bosses to be able to fight with ragnaros or you can directly attack him?
Because when you look on the mc map it looks like there is a shortcut to ragnaros.. Comment by I've tried soloing MC on a DK but it's harder then it sounds I am sometimes close to winning the boss fights but no they are pretty tough :P.
Comment by Melkoshi Just two-maned this with a 4. Hardest boss would of been Baron, due to the living bomb crap.
