Your aim is to pass each control point in the fastest time, rather then racing directly against other drivers. Rally is the more technical of the two, while trailblazer takes place on wider, more open tracks that encourage speed as much as precision. Rallycross takes place on tight, mixed-surface tracks, while Landrush makes use of more extreme, off-road routes.

Headhead races are high-profile, one-on-one battles on thrilling crossover tracks. Race events can take place day or night, come rain or snow. Perform well to earn medals and driver rep. Gymkhana Sprint Follow the route around the compound as fast as you can, hitting all the gymkhana tricks in sequence along the way. Gymkhana Attack This time you can hit the tricks in whichever order you like. Plan your route wisely to complete them all as fast as you can.

Smash as many robots as you can in the time limit, but watch out for the civilian buildings! Drift Showcase Drift down the short track, then turn around and drift back to the start. Score as many points as you can along the way. Speedrun Follow the route laid out around the compound, driving through all the gates in sequence as quickly as you can. The Parking Lot The tarmac is fast and the jumps are high. The Depot This former container yard offers plenty of high-speed driving at ground level and technical driving on top of the containers.

The warehouse is great for laying down rubber! Outside, the surface is mostly dirt and there's an insane two-way corkscrew jump! You can view a list of the missions by selecting Missions from the in-game Pause menu during a session in the DC compound. Gymkhana is the freshest, newest and most exciting discipline around. Passing through a gate as part of a long, smooth drift is ideal. Control is key here. To begin with, approach at a low speed and drive past the central object.

Just as you go past, hit the throttle, steer hard into the donut and tap the emergency brake. With the throttle held, balance the steering to keep your spin smooth and close to the center. Again, the approach is key. As you draw alongside it, floor the throttle, turn hard into the zone and tap the emergency brake to spin the back end of the car out.

Keep the wheels at full lock to get the tightest spin possible. Experiment to see which tricks have the biggest impact on the crowd. Of course, you can always resort to drawing inspiration from others. Choose Time Trial from the Singleplayer menu , pick a gymkhana course and take in a few ghosts from the top of the leaderboard. You can then see exactly what their secret is and maybe even borrow their routine! Experience level — the experience level lets you select the level of challenge appropriate for your skill level.

The Japanese version was released on 25 August The "DiRT Tour" career mode sees players competing as a privateer, earning "Reputation" points in various events to gain the interest of sponsors; these provide the player with new vehicles to drive. A new "Gymkhana" mode puts players in vehicular obstacle courses, challenging them to perform various tricks to earn points and entertain the crowd. Also featured are various online party modes, involving events such as smashing wooden targets, spreading a zombie infection, and Capture The Flag.

Other new features include a Hardcore mode which limits players to the cockpit view with no driving assists, the appearance of rain and snow, and the ability to upload replay clips directly to YouTube. However, it has been delisted from Steam on 31 December Before every race, you get to choose your Team or rather, your car.

Different cars offer different reputation bonuses for completing certain objectives during the race. Is there any reason other than personal preference and variety not to pick the highest team bonus?

The stat differences seem rather minor and so far I haven't had much difficulty completing the objectives, but I'm fairly early in the game. There is no reason why you should not choose the team which offers high rep. Also it was added for replay-ability because once you complete a race with a particular team then you can't get the rep again but if you play the race with other team then you can again get the rep for objectives. As you are early in the game, that is why you are getting this question.

After ample amount of rep, you'll get teams which are not on top but will provide better rep because of the bonus objectives which would be easier to complete in that particular race.
